Smalltown Boy generation troubleshooting

Read the next-step message before clicking again. A missing photo, a closed service, a failed balance lookup and an accepted task waiting for output need different fixes. The studio keeps these states separate.

Try the photo setup

When the button asks for a photo

Add photo A and Add photo B open the exact missing slot. Replace photo A or B means a selected file did not pass local preparation. Check format, actual decoding, dimensions and size; renaming an extension does not repair an image.

A file check is local. No credit reservation or provider task is created at this stage. Removing a bad file or swapping roles changes the draft, not an accepted task.

  1. Use a supported JPG, PNG or WebP file.
  2. Keep each file within 10 MB and 25 megapixels.
  3. Use at least 300 pixels on the shorter side.
  4. Choose one clearly visible subject for each slot.

When permission or availability blocks the next step

Confirm photo permission focuses the checkbox; the studio does not tick it for you. Once the photos and permission are ready, Photo setup ready means generation is still being prepared. It does not mean a video was submitted.

A closed generation service cannot be fixed by refreshing repeatedly, signing in to another account or buying credits elsewhere. Credits belong to this independent studio.

When account or balance checks fail

An enabled studio asks you to sign in and verify email before checking credits. If the balance is unavailable, Retry credit balance reads it again before photos are uploaded. Insufficient credits sends you to this site’s pricing section.

A server-side check runs again during submission. The balance displayed in the browser can become stale; it is not authority to reserve credits.

When the connection breaks during submission

A network error can leave the submission outcome unknown. Check My videos for the original task. Do not assume that an empty response means no provider request exists.

The studio retains the same request ID for retries with unchanged inputs. Changes to cast, photos or direction create a different take. If a task is marked for review, wait for its original status rather than automatically creating another paid job.

When a result or download is not ready

Queued means the request is waiting; running means the task is active; download preparation is a later step. A completed job without an available file is a retrieval problem, not proof that it should be generated again.

For support, keep the task ID and describe the visible state and approximate time. Never send account passwords, provider credentials or full card information. Confirmed failures return reserved credits; aesthetic changes to a successful take are separate requests.

Your questions, answered

Should I press Generate several times?

No. Submit once, wait for the task ID and follow that existing request.

Why is the balance retry separate from generating?

A failed balance lookup must be resolved before any upload or reservation.

Does a connection error prove I was not charged?

No. Check the existing task and its server-side state before starting a new request.
